ENUM (telephone number mapping) domains constitute a connection between conventional telephones and VoIP devices. While VoIP devices allow the input of non-numeric characters (e.g. phone@cps-datensysteme.de), telephones are still limited to numeric inputs. An ENUM domain provides a bridge for this situation. ENUM telephone devices enable the connection to a VoIP device through input, conversion and release of a telephone number.
